Alexis Blake winner of Prix de Rome Visual Arts 2021

On Tuesday November 30th Alexis Blake received the Prix de Rome Visual Arts 2021 from demissionary Minister van Engelshoven of Education, Culture and Science. Blake received this award for her performance Rock to jolt [ ] stagger to ash. The award comes with a 40.000 euro cash prize and a work period at an artist at residency of choice.

Shortlist Prix de Rome Visual Arts 2021 announced

The international jury of the Prix de Rome has selected four artists for the shortlist of the Prix de Rome Visual Arts 2021. The nominees are: Mercedes Azpilicueta, Alexis Blake, Silvia Martes and Coralie Vogelaar. This was announced by the Mondriaan Fund, which organises and finances the Prix de Rome award.

The Prix de Rome is the oldest Dutch award for visual artists below the age of 40. The purpose of the award is to encourage talented visual artists to develop and increase their visibility. The Mondriaan Fund is responsible for the award. For Prix de Rome 2021 the Mondriaan Fund will collaborate once again with the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.The exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam will be open to the public from November 13, 2021 until March 2022 and presents new work by the nominated artists: Mercedes Azpilicueta, Alexis Blake, Silvia Martes en Coralie Vogelaar. The publication will be published by Jap Sam Books.

Gerhard Hofland Gallery presents RATTLE, RATTLE!, the first solo exhibition by Ide André (1990, NL) from October 2 - November 16, 2019.

Opening reception: Saturday 12 October, 17:00 h.

On this occasion Ide André will be awarded the Sieger White Award 2018. This bi-annual prize is awarded by the Prins Bernhard Culture Fund to young talented artists that propel contemporary painting to new levels, and serves to stimulate the artist to further explore and develop their practice.

The publication related to the Sieger White Award, published by Jap Sam Books,  will be released during the opening. Rattle, Rattle! Ide André will be handed over to Ide André by Jan de Ruiter, chairman of the Sieger White Foundation. Following this event, there will be a performance by the artist himself.
