This publication traces a year-long experiment in collaborative curating and extended artistic production called If I Can't Dance, I Don't Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution. The title, attributed to Lithuanian anarchist Emma Goldman, formed the point of departure for this project because her exclamation suggests to us that the search for agency and the potential for empowerment lies in all elements of life and cannot be regulated to a firmly cordoned-off arena named the political. Thus it is embedded and reflected in art too.

This publication documents the projects of Johanna Billing, Matti Braun, Yael Davids, Gerard Byrne, Mariana Castillo Deball and the group LIGNA , who all look at the performative potential in art. Each of the artist projects' is explored through a series of essays or interviews by Francesco Bernardelli, Roos Gortzak, Emily Pethick, Grant Watson and Jan Verwoert.
